Coach & Treasurer

I started Judo in 1969 at Bath Judo Club.

In 1980 I was awarded my 1st Dan grade with the BJA at the L.J.S in London..

In 2015 I was awarded my 2nd Dan grade

I am Level 2 UKCC Coach with the BJA and a BJC (MAC) Coach. I hold a Safeguarding Children & First Aid Certificate. I have also been DBS checked.

I have over 25 years coaching experience with Hereford Judo Club and enjoy passing on to the students, the skills and knowledge that has been passed to me.

I first started Judo when I was a junior, aged 14 and have retained an interest in the sport ever since.

Although I stopped training during my 20’s and 30’s, when my children decided to take up the sport, I thought – ‘I can still do that’, so at 38 years of age I decided to restart my Judo career.

I progressed through the various grades, until at the young age of 48 years; I obtained sufficient competition points to be awarded my ‘Black Belt’. (Age is not an excuse).

Although I am still training in order that I can get my 2nd Dan I decided a few years ago that it was time to give something back to the sport, so I started to attend various coaching courses in order that I would be properly qualified to teach Judo.

I am Level 2 UKCC Coach with the BJA. I am First Aid Qualified, I have also been on ‘Safeguarding Children’ courses, and I hold a current DBS check.

Assistant Coach

I started Judo back in the early 80s At Grandstand Road. My Coaches were Lyndon and Keith.
I now have two boys of my own that are practising Judoka. They enjoy themselves immensely and with alot of encouragement from them I returned to the Dojo.

I am glad to be back on the mat even though it is accompanied by many aches and pains but I enjoy it very much.
I'm very glad to be an Assistant Coach and hope in time to take my Level 2 Coaching Certifcate.

I enjoy encouraging and helping others to enjoying the Sport of Judo.

Events Co-Ordinator

I started Judo 40 years ago, when we held our club nights at the old black huts in Grandstand Rd.
My Sensei`s were John Hyde, Lyndon Preece and Alec Lisle. After 2 years with the help of John Hyde I started training the beginners. Which I carried on for many years after. When I reached the grade of 2nd kyu , I took my Regional Referee course which I passed at Oxford. Aproximately15 years ago I retired from the Judo Mat due to ill health. I have carried on with Hereford Judo Club as a committee member, and hope to do so for quite sometime .
